Ball Nut Brackets

01/15/2009 11:52 AM

I have been using ball nuts for a while, but never realy thought about this.

What is the use of the small bracket (s) indicated by the arrow and screwed onto the body of the nut?

thanks!

This is more of a question as I have research ball screws but not actually used them. Do those brackets hold on the ball recirculation channels, or would those channels stay on without those brackets? It would seem to me they are to hold on the channels but I may be wrong.

They recirculate the balls back into the thread! The balls actually roll along the thread and get scooped out by the tube to go back on round to join in the cycle! I've made them with tube and also pressed channel. It depends on who is designing them I think!

It looks to me that the bracket is there to retain the ball recirculating tubes in place.
