01/16/2009 6:16 AM

We are looking for a benchtop tablet/pill press to work specifically with activated charcoal. Any advice is appreciated.

any binder will interfere with the properties of the activated carbon. Usually powders are mixed with a small amount of binder that under pressure forms a dry glue to hold it together.

the woods are alive with the sound of pill press supply sellers.

You are right about binder interferring with the adsorption of the charcoal. Most of our customers do not ask for tablets and are satified with bulk activated charcaol. We ship this in a variety of sizes. But ocassional we get a request for carcoal tablets and would like to get a press in house to do some testing with different binders. Currently we only offer hard wood and coconut shell activated charcoal, but will be experimenting with walnut media.

Hi Pure and simple,

It will not be simple to press coconut shell activated carbon into tablets. Coal will be easy to press & form into shapes. This would have been evident to you had you explored the internet. Many Chinese companies offer coal carbon pellets made using extrusion, but you see only a few who offer coconut pellets!

walnut I have no idea about, but i doubt you will have a hard time with it too.

By the way I am a coconut activated carbon manufacturer based in Sri Lanka, so i believe I know what I am talking about!

If you can be open about end use of the tablet I might be able to help you more on suitable binders. Good luck with your research. If you feel you cannot b open in an open forum like this you may contact me on sisiraa@gmail.com

Hello kamlesh patel:

Please do not send requests every few minutes. The OP (Original Poster) will reply to you when he sees your post. Sending so many is annoying for him and other posters who have to check each post to see if it is different from the previous one you sent. Thank you.

Hello Pure and Simple:

Hope you are well?

These are two views of the same tablet press on EBay. I only know it is a tablet press, and, quite what you would mix with the activated charcoal to produce tablets is up to you. Good luck ok. Get back to me if there is another info I can help with about this or other presses. If you can tell me what kind of press size and price wise it would be a help. Most are quite pricey.

Yes we saw this one on ebay and it does seem to meet our requirements. We have some feelers out with some of our business contacts and are going to do a little shopping before we decide.

Hello Pure and Simple:

You are quite right to do shopping before buying.

This machine is made in China and you may very well get a better deal than getting it from ebay!

Do you have the company name?

I can find it out as I am pretty sure I have been to their site before.

Take care.

Hello Pure and Simple:

This link takes you to 53 manufacturers. Most are pill presses but some are likely to be large industrial presses. But just click on a name in the list and you will be taken to the factory web site.

Good luck. If I find the exact site I was thinking of I will send it to you.

Copy and paste the whole of this below into your address box.

Take care..................

I can make a pellet about 1-1/2" dia. It is hydraulic floor mounted.
