Laterite is a somewhat generic term that can refer to any Al & Fe rich surface formations of varying composition and thickness, resulting from intense, long term tropical climate driven weathering of mafic or ultramafic parent rock.
Depending upon the mineralogic compositionand degree of induration of the resultant laterite, it can range in density anywhere from around 1,300 kg/m3 to more than 2,600 kg/m3....
In order to be any more precise, it would be best if you made an actual field measurement of the material's density.
