Calculations, environmental de-rating factors and guidelines can be found on the cable manufacturer's websites and literature, as well as in local electrical wiring standards.

Please consult these first as some rules differ between countries, and de-rating factors depend on ground composition, temperature and trenching techniques.

Hi there,

You willnee to know the load that you want to supply, this distance that the cable should run and the soil type.

Basical,ly you should follow this:

1. Size and type of load to be supplied

2. Permissible volt drop

3. prospective fault current

4. Circuit protection

5. Enviromental conditions of installation

You can then search for Aberdare cables on the internet and download their cable facts and figures booklet. It gives you examples of problems for cable selection as well as the calculations.

Regards,

Craig

Hello Question : What in the cable run length? : What is the primary voltage? : What will the load be ? : What will the most extreme temperature be ? : What will the requirement be for example copper or aluminum ? : will you be using three phase 480vac or 240vac pending on the legs of your transformer ? :Your intended load will have the required current on a plate or sticker of the load.

Roger

Your question lacks the iformation required to answer yor question. Where are you, what kind of load, enviornment, in the ground or conduit, how far, loading, etc.

This is not a complex problem in its self. You need to know the load, distance, is the cable in conduit, voltage drop and a few other things. Anyone who has experience in the electric field could do it. Sounds like you need to hire a consultant.
