Any input on pre- commissioning/ commissioning of crane on barge with the utilities of all diciplines?

Cheers,

I would think that you will have the usual problems with bringing something back to life. The most important information is as to how it was laid up. If the folks just walked away from it, God bless you, you are going to need all the help you can get.

If the crane is of sufficient capacity that a high volume ballasting system is used to compensate for the load, I would have an early look at those components for freezing damage and such.

with the information you have supplied I am somewhat at a loss as to offer any guidance. The last project I was involved with wasn't the type that had huge sums of money to throw at it. Our approach was to break it down to what would constitute a "show stopper" event and eliminate those up front.

More details, more thoughts.

Let me rephrase the discussion topic again, when I referred the pre-commissioning of derrick barge, I meant to commission it to make sea worthy with the certification envisaged to intorduce the same to sea

Dear Ash Bandy,

Never play around without first consulting a surveyor from : Lloyds,Veritas , ABS or Germanischer Lloyds. Talk to the first and nearest one to you. generally they are very helpfull.

When you fiddle around with : barges and introduce cranes and tipping moments into the play, you first need to satisfy the Insurance Companies . ( Do not rely on friends advices ) .

They the Marine Insurance or their Brokers will demand that you have a survey certificate that has been issued by any of the above. So be carefull as life of workers is precious and so is your reputation !
