Hi there,

If you are refering to flow characteristics of valves you have the following types:

1. Linear

2. Equal percentage

3. Quick opening

4. Square root

5. Modified parabolic

6. Hyperbolic

For more information on this you can follow this link: http://www.engineeringtoolbox.com/control-valves-flow-characteristics-d_485.html

If your are talking about the actual flow characteristic for selecting a flow meter type then you are refering to whether the flow is laminar or whether it is turbulent. This would depend on the Reynolds number.

You will have to provide more information as to what you would like to know about.

Regards,

Craig
