Internships in Chemical Engineering

01/22/2009 6:38 AM

Hi,I'm a chemical engineering student studying bachelors in 3rd year in a college in India. Now,we have something like a summer project in 3rd year, where we have to do a project on chem engg in an industry or any educational institution with or without pay under the guidance of a supervisor. We then have to submit a project report & based on it we'll be asked questions. Now what I want to know is that where should I do it?in an industry where I'll have hands on training in completing certain projects or in an educational institution other than my college where I'll do some research based projects?I'm confused as to which will help me in the long run....I may add that I would not mind joining the industry straight after bachelors but I would have to pursue higher studies if I don't get a job or a reaonable job offer. Will such a project in the industry help me in getting reasonable job offers after I finish my bachelors?

What are your limits geographically? Are you limiting your search to India, or to a particular part of India?

Dude, i think u are not talking about any summer training. I hope u need to have one 4month project work to complete your degree, and ur job scenario would be clear till then. However, a good project in final semester can immensely change ur future scope and ur destination as well. it depends upon availability & accessibility of opportunities. Doing project at ur school is just cool to get rid of degree formalities, its subjected where do u study. You can have internship anywhere abroad, there are several benefits of this. second choice can be any IIT centre, then opt for any private (gud profiled) company to have access for job as well. If you have nice job in hand can apply to any government sector R&D.

you can contact me as well, if u wish and think, i can help u out in any ways. mbkt123@yahoo.co.in

Oh yeah .... if its about summer training you can have in any company. Only concern is to visualise and imbibe concepts of science and industry culture. For that also if u get any chance to work abroad go ahead keeping 1st choice considering ur financial aid as well. Its enough of notion. Gud luck.
