Hello taimur.64:

This sounds an interesting question.I would not have though this question was relevant with scissor table lifts and cherry pickers available at all airports now.

Or perhaps you are thinking of a purpose made machine which can reach the whole under-tail?

Will get back later, I fell asleep at the desk! So I am going to bed.

Bye.

And I thought this is the website of boeing where they give off all their design parameters to all potential competitors and marketmakers (Under open source agreement - does the open source codes dont apply to mechanical engineering ? - i want a smiley where I scratch my head )

Hello sb,

How are you?.........................This is an odd request do you not think?

I am trying to imagine what position in the company this OP sits? Or may be the OP is just looking for 'niches' which his company could possibly fill?

I cannot imagine a purpose made piece of machinery sitting on the airfield waiting for the odd problem will a Boeing 777?

Surely this kind of 'Maintenance' is carried out by scissor tables or, more likely a cherry-picker. Which could work on any part of the aircraft, not just one area?

Take care sb.................

Hi babybear.

I guess the economic situation is worse than I thought if Boeing is now letting its tail dock designs be collaboratively designed on CR4...

Sheeesh.

Hello Milo,

How you doing?.....................This just seems like a very odd question. I checked to see if it was April 1st? Perhaps they cannot use the computer at the weekends, seems a little slow on the responses?

Andway, I think the OP should split the wack say, 90/20%?

Just to see how many are still awake, see if they notice.

Anyway, the OP should be pleased with the 20% after we did the hard bit and get the 90%, don't you?

this is not for boeing company there r many airlines using b-777 without having docking fascility of it.

so by doing modifications to their already prevailing docks they can perform checks

and by the way complete docking system costs around 2 million $

there r some CAA requirements for aircraft maintenance u cannot do heavy maintenance with cherry pickers or lifts.

Can the OP check up with NASA for the shuttle docking system, will it suit boeing ?

Hello taimur.64,

I understand as two Relatives were in the Aircraft maintenance field. I would imaging there in an apparatus that could be adjustable but, still provide a solid, close to the aircraft working platform? There must be uses for that kind of thing for all aircraft in the main maintenance depots, where the planes are renovated, and mended? Are you actually talking of the 'skid plate' which forms the slope under the tail? Or something which can be used for the complete installation of Rudder and tail fins?

Take care.....................

The ideal height and clearance is one that allows workers to reach the component they need to work on without damaging the aircraft.

taimur,

I wouldn' try to design my own stand . Why reinvent the wheel ? Google Aircraft Maintenance Stands and you will find manufacturers for everthing from C-5 Empenage stands on down. After 25 years in the aircraft maintenance field I can tell you to look for or request that your stands come wired for electrical and plumbed for pneumatics. The best docks are, and it reduces the hazards of long runs of hoses and electrical cords Especially on a bird the size of the 777.
