Residential Fiber Optic Lighting?

01/27/2009 9:55 PM

Hi group.

Recently I have moved to a new department, is a little bit dark, so I want to iluminate it and save energy (and $$). Could any one send me some guide lines to start with fiber optics?

Thanks!

What's the cost of enough fiber to provide the desired illumination? For that matter, how much illumination do you want, and how much do you have? You've left out a lot of information.

P. S. There ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

This company make domestic & commercial fibre optic lighting systems & show you how to make your own. Have a look at the 'projects' section. It won't be a cheap option though, I'd start by seeing if a few strategically placed mirrors would help to introduce more light.

Were you hoping to "pipe" natural sunlight from the roof to the place you want to use it?

You can try these guys also.

I've seen the solar tube installed in a house. It brightened up the whole room, just like being outside. I have one of their solar attic fans; works like a champ!

Hello Guest,

Fibre optics lend themselves to many different kinds of uses and installation. This is your heading googled. Some great pictures!

Did you have anything in mind. Have you designed your own fibre optic light/s?

Take care...................................
