Disclaimer/warning:- I know nothing about ultrasound (and, there are lots of far better electronic engineers on this forum but no one else seems to have replied)

I would have thought that ultrasonic stuff would not normally be considered high frequency. This should get you going:-

No power supply decoupling caps shown!

The 741 Op-Amp should be OK for U1, but, you will need to choose a suitable Op-Amp and interface output to match your transducer. The mixer stage has no gain, and, I've set the gain of the amplifier stage to X10: again you need to choose to match your transducer.

Randell,

I think most of us assumed this was someones home work.

Then: I've waisted my time. But, I won't have told him anything he didn't already get told in class, so: no harm done?

The ultrasound my wife uses (in medicine) typically runs at 4 MHz more or less. I don't think a 741 would cut it.

It might be worth starting a new thread. Post a link to it from this one, so that you get silvCrow and Sciesis2 on board; include more details: like the frequency your interested in; possibly the transducer(s?) you're going to use, and, anything else which may be relevant.

I personally am quite a dummy on the subject, but I can ask the boss (wife) and see what she has on it.

If so, I will respond here.

I dont know if you are a lazebone. because you cannt make clear many issues like

how much frequency? what is you required middle frequency from mixer?

how much power is the aplifier? distortion, and band etc....

ultrasonic frquency has very wide range from 20KHz -- xGHz, we general use can be up to 50--100Mhz etc.

what s your transductor, differnt transductor , different amplifier design.

os you should make your issue completement.
