loss of acceleration

02/01/2009 12:16 PM

I have a peugeot 307 1.4 petrol 52 plate. My antipollution light has been coming on and going off for the past two months. I read on a forum it could be to do with buying supermarket grade petrol.I have topped it up with some good premium petrol from BP and still the engine management light stays on when the antipollution light is on. The car when in normal driving whether it be at 30mph or 70mph the car starts to lose power. My acceleration just dies and then kicks back in after a few seconds. The antipollution light is off at the moment but i was out today on the motorway and it started to lose acceleration for a few seconds and then kicked back in. Can anyone shed any light on my situation. Thanks Graham

I think that the sensors might be carbonized and so it takes a while from the time you switch to clean petrol until the sensors are clean again and the light turns of.

Otherwise your engine might be getting old and burning some oil, that you can correct by applying Rewitec, www.rewitec.com so once it gets back to full performance the better combustion will help cleaning the sensors.

Last ressource, stop at a Peugeot service and pay for correcting the malfunction, that is to clean or change them.

Thanks for your feed back. The engine is certainly not burning oil as i hardly ever have to top it up, and the mileage is around 58000. The car runs great usually.
