The Morgan Schaffer Furan Test is used to detect the thermal, oxidative and hydrolytic breakdown of paper insulation.

If you can't figure out the "20% or 40 % remaining life" part there is no hope for you.

Why do you ask? Student? Researcher? Electrical Engineer? Plant Manager?

Or is this the last obstacle to your starting your own transformer company?

You may detect a slight bias toward people who are demanding answers to questions which are indecipherable.

You need to search '2-Furfural' or '2- Furfuraldehyde', derivatives of Furan in the transformer oil, which can be used as an indicator of the degradation of the insulation.

Just a pointer in the right direction.
