Wifi is wireless internet, which is transmitted throughout your house via a Wireless Access Point (WAP) enabling you to browse the net in your house, or in the garden on a lovely summer's day. The WAP plugs into your computer and also into the phone line, then on set up, you need to set a WEP key, which you will need when using a different PC to connect to the WAP. If you are connecting a desktop to the WAP, you will generally need to purchase a PCI wireless adaptor, which you can find for around £10 on ebaY and other sites. When connecting another computer, you will need to type in the WEP key you made earlier, and then hey presto! You have internet on it. To then make a wireless network, presuming you are on windows, when on network and internet options, click on wireless betwork set up wizard, follow the steps, and then save the settings to a memory stick, and plug it into all the computers you want!
Not answering the question, but in a similar vein and should be of interest to the poster. Does anyone have experience of Wi-Fi radios. There are a number of makes on the market and also a number of providers. Any recommendations/comment on makes and providers would be appreciated
