Big Blocks and Small Blocks - CAD Data or Drawings

02/03/2009 2:34 PM

I am in need of accurate CAD data or drawings for domestic US OEM big blocks & small blocks for after market applications. Where can I find dimensional information for areas such as head to block, intake to head, valley spacing & angle, & deck height for the common GM, Chrysler & Ford big & small blocks?

DWT:

I sent Gary & Oscar an email at SEMA Tech Transfer.

Hopefully it pans out.

Thanks for the tip.

Edelbrock has the dimensions you want, as do aftermarket gasket manufacturers. But they will not likely want to give that information away to a possible competitor. Have you tried a search of patents? Or Perhaps a website devoted to each manufacturer might give up the dimensions you seek. Good luck.

Bob C:

Thanks for info. Been down those paths; info is too general. Need GD&T level data for design, engineering & manufacture. Ft. Lauderdale; it was 6F here this AM!

"Ft. Lauderdale; it was 6F here this AM!"

At least you are not forced to store your beer in a refrigerator.

1) http://www.gmperformanceparts.com/Parts/catalog.jsp

You may have to apply to become a parts dealer since it sounds like you need engineering dwgs. The above link should have some books with overall outside engine mounting dimensions. I don't think that is detailed enough for your application.

2) http://www.factoryperformanceparts.com/

New Dealers Please Call
(586) 774-2500

3) I have a factory GM engine book with all race engines and fairly detailed orthographic views of numerous engines. IM me and let me know what you need and I will see if it is in the book.

Cheers

UFG
