Look in "we"'s electrical installation standards manual.

I really feel young people are now spoonfed- (well i have my experience of just trying to coach a few youngmen for engineering a decade or so back - things jave not changed for better then)

A bit of common sense and understanding is expected.

armoured or US armored

Adjective 1. having a protective covering 2. consisting of armoured vehicles: an armoured brigade (http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=armoured%2Bmeaning&meta=) first link in the search. Then http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=armoured%2Bcable&btnG=Google+Search&meta= first link again is http://www.cable.alcan.com/NR/rdonlyres/78125A33-D86F-44E6-9ECA-0DAF56942B66/0/ArmouredEN.pdf refer page 6 and 8 ,9 for crossection. And other pages also for other information Note this is the first link of 294,000 matches. The previous didn't note and nor want to. The cables, armoured, unarmoured, why armour and type of insulations were all covered in 3rd year of Electrical Engg (we had a 5 yr course back then , so for you it will be in 2nd year) Are the people not intelligent enough to just make an effort and find it out the basics and not run-around. It is sickening.

Dear antupaul,

Armour is required for physical protection of cable. Underground cable must be protected with armour. Where protection is not required un armoured cable can be used.

I felt really sad when I read this question in CR4 ( a forum meant for engineers) . We had many non qualified unskilled labours(called helpers) working in electrical department. We cannot promote them to semi skilled even after many years service, as they do not posses any qualification or licence to work in electricity. Still we give them a rise as unskilled (SG)after interview. For their interview we used to ask similar questions to them. They used to answer it correctly.

Regards
