OS&Y Valve Approved by FM

02/04/2009 7:38 AM

Hi All

I have a big trouble about fire line that it's required use OS&Y valve approved by VL\FM to Fire Tank outlet or not.

Now I m in Turkey. We are applying NFPI 20 specification and completed the job with OS&Y valve but not approved by FM. But according to insurance company it should be also approved by FM valve.

When I viewed the specification, I didn't coincide any rule or rules about that.

Now I need your help. If anybody knows about that please send me with rule or rules defining in specification.

Thank you so much now.

FM being Factory Mutual, the OS&Y valve needs documentation of FM from your supplier. Contact them.

I suspect there are multiple vendors available for such valves that have such third-party listings and approvals (based on testing and reviews etc. for the service), particularly for commonly small diameter exposed fire lines.

I believe you can obtain a listing CD e.g. from Factory Mutual that documents all such approvals -- one vendor example is e.g. http://www.acipco.com/afc/.

Outside Stem & yoke. It is a valve design that exposes the stem and the bonnet style.
