Tripping system

02/09/2009 4:48 AM

There are several distribution boards connected to a single source.

However, when branch 1 of DB-A with lighting loads is switched ON, other branch circuits of the other DBs are tripping. Also, once branch 1 of DBA is already switched ON, the tripped branches from other DBs can be reset.

What could be the possible cause and solution to this.

Appreciate any advise. Thank you.

Check the type of loading on the DB.

The switching on must be creating a voltage transient and this transient is tripping the other relays.

Put a bit of time-delay on the relays or compensate the inductive load by capacitors.

The loads on DBA are street pole lights, while the other DBs are residential equipment loads. thanks

It is likely the the lights are inductive and are creating the voltage spikes on switch on tripping the system.

Check compensators.
