Ball Valve Sliding Stem

I have technical data sheet for shutdown valve says that the valve type is sliding stem shut-down ball valve is that applicable?

i think this is wrong becouse ball valve is rotating stem valve isn't it?

Shiha,

The data sheet is not wrong there are ball valves with "sliding" stems. I am more familiar with the term "rising" stem which I think is the industry accepted term.

Search google using valve rising stem ball gives 34000 odd results.

I think rising stem is different from sliding stem

as in the link you attached:

The key to the success of the valve is the rising stem that lifts the ball away from its seat before turning, so that the seats are protected from wear and degradation from the rotation.

anyway thank you a lot this is new information for me about rising stem
