Hi there,

How to test a VFD (Variable frequency drives) with digital multimeter (DMM) - CAREFULLY!

If you do not know how to test the VFD - then you definately do not know what you want you want to measure. So my advice to you would be to stay the hell away from the VFD before you hurt yourself and/or someone else!

Regards,

Craig

Dear Craig

I am very much sure what i want to check in a VFD. What i was looking for is the basic procedure to check the IGBT, I/P rectifier DC + - terminals?

I hope my post is clear this time....

Hi there,

Try this site: http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/llisapi.dll?func=cslib.csinfo2&aktprim=99&lang=en

In the product support search for 6RA24. Download the product manual and you will find what you are looking for. Bear in mind though - this will vary from manufacturer to manufacturer.

On some drives I have worked with - you cannot test with a multimeter. You would need a scope with the correct probes.

Regards,

Craig
