calculate velocity

02/14/2009 2:59 AM

we want to make a hover craft for this we have taken tube of a tractor.

this tube which will develop the required buoyance force in order to lift the

weight in the water if our blower fails to run.

On this tube we placed a ply wood with a centre hole.

the centre hole is required to place blower.

now our problem is to select a blower with a c.f.m & velocity that will lift

the entire equipment

the data we have is

pay load:60kgs,

height to be lifted:0.5inch,

inner diameter of the tube:60cm,

mean diameter of the tube:98cm,

NOW ACCORDING TO OUR CALCULATIONS:

c.f.m=(cross section area through which air flows)*velocity of air flow

c.f.m=(perimeter of the tube * height to be lifted)*velocity

c.f.m=((2*(pi)*r)*h)*v

r= mean radius of the tube

h=0.5inch

v=?

can we get value of v from bernoullies equation

i.e..,

if so please tell us the procedure to calculate along with the values
