Stripping Cured UV Coatings from Plastic Parts

02/19/2009 2:51 AM

does any body have any idea how to strip UV coating ( after cured) from plastics part mechanically or chemically?

the plastic substrate: PC; ABS/PC; ABS

the paint system: 2K base coat with thickness with UV topcoat ( both coat ~ 10 micrometer)

after the paint removal, the part will be re paint.

thank you

Hello,

Try a paint supplier. 'Redspot' is big into automotive plastic parts spraying.

All most all UV paint will be dissolved and can be removed by common solvent called Acetone. Apply on cotton ball and test out and you will know it .
