Chillers and Compressors

02/24/2009 1:09 AM

i got confused with istallation of air cooled chiller 2 horizontal screw compresors 5000kg (Dunham bush AFHX 115T).The chiller located on the slab(10ft x 16ft).The chiller unit come with spring isolator. But during my installation at site, i use rubber pad (3/8" thickness) instead of spring isolator. For each compressor consists of rubber pad already about 1/2"(from manufacturer). Is it acceptable during the unit is running? There are flexible joints for chilled water out & in.

You better installed sprin isolators for the chiller and install a rubber pad between the leg of the chiller and the isolator, I suggest you log on to mason industries they are manufacturers and there is guidelines on the desgin of the isolators that depend on the distribution weight of the chiller and include seismic zone data

http://www.mason-ind.com/masonind/home/index.cfm

please let me know how it goes
