Electronic Control Gear (ECG) - Perfomance testing

11/07/2006 7:50 AM

Dear friends in the ECG engineering,

I have assembled the ECGs for 2 x 18W, & 2 x 36W florescent lamps by using all reliable & quality components imported from mainland China. My problem is to make a good performance warranty certificate for this product for export.

If our friends in CR4 can suggest some steps or advices on this I would greatly appreciate. The readings what I can get at the moment is the following:

1. Applied voltage..230VAC- 50Hz

2. Current consumption for 2 x 18W is 260mA. & 270mA for 2 x 36W.

(for 26mm Dia Florescent lamps)

3. Enclosure fabricated with metal.

4. Minimised all heat generation by using heat sink for transistors.

I need to check the Power Factor too.

The EXPERTIER'S advices are again appreciate.

Best regards,

Jayasiri.

A few simple questions need to be answered.

1) Is this something you have designed and built yourself.

2) Could you describe the state of construction and assembly of the electronic control gear (are the components mounted on a printed circuit board you have made, or is the ECG made up of modules of someone elses equipment). What will the final form of the ECG be in for sale.

3) Are you exporting from China overseas, if so which countries are you wanting to export to.

4) Are you representing a company or are you working alone on this project. What level of resources (equipment, funding, etc) do you have.

5) How many are you planning on building and exporting.

6) Have you designed the ECG to any local or international standards.

Answers to these will help.

Countries regulate the importation of appliances made for their 120 or 240 volt lines. In the USA it is the UL (underwriters lab) in Canada it is the CSA, (Canadian Standards Association). The ECM has one called VDE, I think. These organizations also have reps in China, Taiwan, Japan etc and they will explain all the rules for the parts you must use to pass their tests and get permission to sell it in their country.
