Why do you care about the OD of pipe?
Tubing is spec'd by OD, pipe by ID.
But if you want a fitting that will tell you the exact OD of the pipe, buy a female fitting.
The ID of this fitting will give you the OD of the pipe, sort of.

If you can't find your calipers, or you are working on a 3' gas pipeline, run a tape around the circumference and divide by pi
