Abrasion Test on UV Coated Surface

03/05/2009 5:53 AM

I am working on plastic coating industry for telecommunication device ( mobile phone and bluetooth headset), as most of the product from this segment are go through surface decoration process such as painting,printing, Vacuum metallization or electroplating to achieve the finishing requirement.

these device are getting smaller in size and end user trend to put them in pocket, when contact with cloths, abrasion and wearing of coating happened where causing the paint wore off and explored the bare plastic....

recently I am working on this matter and looking for UV paint that can withstand 100 cycle of abrasive testing by using Normal tool Abrasion tester model 7-1BB), the testing requirement as following:

1) arm weight: 176g;

2) Abrasive tape : 11/16" wide paper strip from Normal tool inc.

3) Criteria : No substrate visible after 100 cycle.

any suggestion and comment are welcome.

Thank you

Regards,

Surface

Radtech International is the trade association for the UV/EB curing industry. Go to their website (radtech.org) and browse the buyer's guide or post this same question on their e-groups/forums.

Off the top of my head, look for Northwest Coatings, Actega Radcure, PPG.

Good Luck
