Optimum Thickness of Rock Wool Insulation

what would be the optimum thickness of insulation for high temperature bare steam pipeline.What would be the conductivity and density for that thickness which make the pipe touchable.

What is the diameter of the pipe?

What is the length of the pipe?

Why would you use Rockwool when there are a number of more efficient insulation materials out there?
