How to Bypass Microsoft Windows for a Quick Boot

03/08/2009 4:56 PM

Thousands of hours are wasted every year waiting for computers to boot up. A Windows machine can take a couple of minutes to get going and to shut down again. In extreme cases, the entire process can take as long as 30 minutes.

Too bad it won't do you any good if you need to use a program that is installed in windows. I was playing around with Knoppix a while back and was able to get it too boot in 13 seconds.

just build a new machine ... or do an msconfig and stop the services and processes you don't need on system startup...

you would see a significant decrease in start up time

But how do you know what these mysterious configurations of letters mean and what is their importance to the machine operation - suck it and see?

research them to find out whey they do...

like i disabled help amongst other things i don't use. Even when i installed daemon tools MS office and even Adobe acrobat, each had start up items which would contribute to system slow down on booting (well loading the desktop in windows).

But if you really wanna get a fast system up with proper working features with out a hard drive on the machine for instance use knoppix or ubuntu ( or any live cd/dvd) when loaded just save your info to a flash drive or to a shared network drive. See now you saved on hard drives and copies of windows :).
