1000 horse power motor needed

11/09/2006 7:58 AM

I am involved in a fast paced project due to an equipment failure at a large industrial facility. An existing spare motor has turned out to be a big question mark.

I need either a new, refurshed or high quality used electric motor with the following characteristics:

1000 hp at 1200 rpm (a more extensive specification is available but, first I want to see if anything close is available)

The motor is needed on site by early January.

Can anyone provide some guidance as to where to look or who to call?

How about where are you for starters? Then we might know what sort of voltage you may have to run this motor.... also whether a local company could help you out....

Just saying you want a large motor isn't sufficient, you could be in the Amazon rain forest for all we know!!

John.

Try searching at http://www.surplusrecord.com/electric.htm. We don't know enough from your question to narrow down to a particular category within this field. Please provide further information if you actually want to obtain help from members of this forum.

They are available... The application (coupled or sheave), frame, cooling means, and the voltage will determine (or limit) availability.

I use many 1000hp motors, and avilability seems (in my past experience) to be good for used or New-Old-Stock. Reliance has a Liberator series of fast-delivery large frame motors, with limited features. many facilities shut down end-of-year, so deliveries for new are slipping fast, unless you find stock somewhere.

This guy has come through for me a host of times:

Charlie Steele
Charlie Steele's Custom Built Electric Motors
9572 Wesson Street
Baton Rouge, LA
800 637 7042; 225 924 1407 (fax); 225 572 0045 emergency- Charlie

Charlie has found many motors for me in the past... New , used & remanufactured. I'm running (4) of these right now.. I highly recommend his crowd.

How about a 1000 HP, 1200 RPM Diesel with a generator. Just rebuilt and in working order. I can be contacted at artte3@verizon.net. It is manufactured by ALCO. My name is Arthur Edelstein and I can reached at 661-259-8184.
