Panels, Lines and Loads

03/09/2009 9:55 AM

I got some problem on synchronizing panel but I am not able to understand where the problem is ? Problem is engine not takes loads . Total load of the station is 400amps(200+200)amps.When the engine take to lines with the another two engines then it takes only 45amps loads. At that time another two engine show 220 amps and 500 amps each where the total load 400amps. All the parameters are- voltage-440 v, frequency 50.1 engine cummins make-GTA 1710 (Gas gensets) Alternator-stamford make (380 kva)

Most probably it is engine governor issue. It could be because of the defective governor or its setting issue. Concentrate on this. You also can try running only this genset and see it takes full load.

My Governor is legally blind. We exchanged a defective Governor for him. He seems to be a very good Governor but I'm not sure I'd give him an engine, no matter what transmission or tires were on it.

Ok end silliness , commence fractured English.

You did not indicate how the load sharing system is made manually or automatically.

Is your installation provided with power return protection

How is the exitation current set?

This look like a a misfunction of the AVR mainly is there is no trip by return power.

Hi,

What you are seeing is circulating currents between the generators. This is a problem of your synchronisation settings. Assuming the system is working in droop mode you need to run each machine individually at no load and full load and adjust them so that they both have the same voltage droop and frequency sag at each setting. i.e. Say for example, 51 Hz 444V no load and 49Hz 430V at full load. One important thing is to use the same external good multimeter, there is no guarantee that someone hasn't misadjusted the panel meters at some time. Using the same meter means at least you are comparing "like with like"

Regards

Chas.
