Extracting Data from .CFS Files

03/12/2009 11:41 AM

anybody know how to extract information from a cfs file? I have a digital recording unit that outputs a "backup" disk of a project file in cfs format. I would like to be able to extract the multiple tracks from the information in the cfs file for editing in a computer.

Any ideas, or do i need to spend the $250 for the FireWire network card?

Guest has a valid question.

When you put question to forum then let all know the results you find.

For definition see:

It wasn't me and I roger that

Use windows media player or true audio device, maybe use nchsoftware.com if non-Intel system.

The solution i found is a piece of free software specifically written for my recording machine. Its called AWextract 2.66.

http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/programs/AWExtract/

It was written only for the Yamaha AW4416 and AW2816 Recording Units, and will convert the (.CFS) backup file to individual WAV files of each track. It works perfectly... Slowly, but works well.

Gee Audio (for Windows) and AWare (for Mac) both extract audio tracks from Yamaha AW4416, AW2816, and AW16G backup disks (.CFS) They are both available for download from SillyMonkey Software (http://www.sillymonkeysoftware.com) Enjoy!
