Use Solid Rolls. They will vibrate less.

Hi ahmadbilal,

buy a pair of used rolls from a steel mill. they'll sell it to you on a per kg basis (scrap value).

regrind them, if necessary, and use them in your plate roller. best rolls you'll find for your use.

HTH!

let me correct myself. for plate bending (curving), that should be three rolls, not just 2.

we've done this, and this works perfect (just be careful with your choice of steel rolls - the ones used in the roughing mill is the hardest, and the best for plate bending).

HTH!

Dear Mr. Ahmad

Before replying your question, You would like first to know that the torque exerted on a plate by mechanical shaping such as bending depends on the hardness of the metal (or alloy), the diameter of the end product, the surface properties of the feed plate and several other mechanical characteristics. In case you mean steel plate of hardness say 37, and the diameter of the end product say 1000 mm, then you have to bend the plate in successive triple runs. As per your question, a triple bending roll machine is preferably recommended. The main base (lower) driving cylinders are hollow fitted with a driving shaft having suitable diameter and hardness (usually about 150 mm made of harder steel alloy). The wall thickness of these cylinders should be at least 60 mm. The upper supporting roll may be with less wall thickness say 40 mm. A cooling fluid is recommrnded.

Here plate bending machine mfrs use only solid rolls. These made from old ship axles and available at cheaper prices and long last.
