So are you looking for information about solid waste facilities that offer fiberglass recycling as a service? I'm not quite sure I understand the question, but would like to help.

No, we at Seawolf Industries, do recycle fiberglass. Our recycle equipment is designed for in-house use. You can go to www.seawolfindusties.com and www.gogreenfrp.com to see what we do. The article I am writing is for a book. I am interested to know if anyone knowes of landfills that take fiberglass, so I can figure out cost of landfill vs recycle equipmen. This is to see how long it would take for the equipment to pay for itself. I am sure cost of disposal varies with location, but I would like to know, and calculate an avarage. Also if any of these landfills take fiberglass for free, or if they plan to stop taking it.

Thanks for your help,

Janepana

Among other things it would help to limit the geography - did you want world-wide data?

Yes, world wide would be nice. I understand that many countries don't allow it in their landfills.

Thanks

I've never heard of a landfill that wanted the stuff. There are too many different kinds of polymers to reclaim any of it, even if it were possible. The 'glass' can be anything from chopped strand glass, various propelines, Kevlar, carbon fibers, Zynol, etc.. Woven roving, fabric, strands, omni or unidirectional, matting, or a combination of them all. Boats and such large FRP items make excellent artificial reefs and marine habitats. The rest can be ground up (there again, fibers like Kevlar, Dynel, Zynol, etc. will create a particular challenge), and added to concrete. Burned, it gives off toxic fumes, and the fibers that are left will 'rats nest' any machinery.

Hope you still have your day job.

Carl

Yes, you are correct there are many types. However we at Seawolf Ind. do have the know-how to recycle fiberglass, and at this time we are working on carbon fiber recycle. What I am trying to do is come up with an average cost so I can figure out disposal vs cost of recycle equipment.

,You should visit us at www.seawolfindustries and www.gogreenfrp.com., maybe you can help me.

Thanks for your input,
