Chlorine Sensors

03/23/2009 9:57 AM

Can anyone tell me how a closed loop chlorine measurement system works. What kind of signal does a chlorine sensor give? For instance I know that a thermocouple transduces temperature to mV. What happens with a chlorine sensor?

Guest,

As far as I am aware, amperometric electrochemical sensors that measure chlorine gas concentrations also results in a linear output in the milliampere range.

(typical sensor output from 1 to 20 MA)

Check out sume instrument suppliers' websites. Endress + Hauser and Emerson Process (usual disclaimer on both) spring immediately to mind.
