what about power factor correction

i'm in a last year student in one of the IPT in malaysia and make a project title 'automatic power factor correction'. so. can you give me explanation about automatic power factor correction and static power factor correction. i also would know how many type or method to control the power factor.

Apart from cable sizing, power factor correction is CR4 electrical's favourite topic.
