I have a steel pipe 16" dia X 8' long X 1/4" wall. I will load this pipe with waste wood, close the ends (not totally airtight) and heat this wood to about 600 F. The idea is to produce 'bio-char' from this wood without oxygen. Once it gets hot enough the wood will produce biogas and H. This gas can be used to sustain the high internal heat by running this gas through external burners under the 16" pipe. This bio-char will be used as a soil amendment.
Can I use an induction coil to get this system up to a self-sustaining temperature?
How many watts will it take. Or what shape do I need on the coils that will lay along side of the pipe. (Say, my gas burners would be at 6 o'clock and the coils would be at 8 & 4 O'Clock)
