Double Decker Air Handling Unit

11/15/2006 5:19 AM

For double decker air handling unit, supply air fan having static pressure of 75 mm sucking air from fresh air plenum. The return air fan having static pressure of 15 mm forcing air into return air plenum, out of which some quantity is exhausted out and remaining is returned to fresh air plenum.Fresh air quantity equal to exhausted air is to be taken into the system. The problem is that whether fresh air will be sucked into the fresh air plenum or not?

The Return Fan is normaly controled by static pressure and control dampers.

  1. Return air is building air being removed from the conditioned space.
  2. Exhaust Air is return air that is being forced out of the conditioned space.
  3. Fresh Air is air from outside the conditioned space.
  4. Supply Air is the air being supplied to the occupied space.

The inlet duct to the supply fan has(usally) both Fresh Air and Return Air ducts that are controled by control dampers. I have added this small drawing
