But aren't you supposed to do your OWN homework?

You may have, if you solve it.

Since many people don't seem to bother performing a quick and simple search of the internet first before asking a question here, I am wondering if you have not done the same and performed a search of the book for the answers you seek.

Seriously thou, if the answers are not IN the book (I am assuming it is a book), then who on earth would have them. I would suggest getting a more up to date book (unless you have been doing a very long correspondence course).

Passivation helps to eleminate heat conduction.

One time I was able to bring conduction loss to near zero with proper selection of oxide coating (also called passivation layer) and on top of that reflective layer. We did usinig silica fiber tiles on space shattle to reflect all the heat and then then having silica as good passivation oxide layer is good example.

It depends what you are trying to isolate from heat transfer

Augusto,

We don't do homework for people at CR4 - if that is what this is about. If it happens to be about real world problems, you will find them as varied as the hardware designs out there throguhout the world. As mentioned, a quick check of the internet will provide you with information on at least the major issues and their solutions - same with a good heat transfer book.
