HT and LT Voltage Range

dear all

i want to know what is the range of voltege at which we can say that it is lying in LT series and what is that at which we can say it is HT what i mean i want to ask from what figure LT start and and what it is ended and what point Ht start ant what figure it is ended

Hi dineshpandit

In India IS specifications are followed which has BS standard as base. Normally AC 50 V - 1000V volts are considered LT . 1kV to 66 kV is considered HT and Above 66 kV is EHT ( standard 110 kV ,132 kV ,220 kV , 400kV etc ) Voltages below 50 volts is considered Extra low tension

Why are the voltages referred to as low tension and high tension. I use high voltage, transmission voltage or distribution voltage and just low voltage. Just was interested in the terminology.

L.T. VOLTAGE RANGE WILL BE 0-15000VOLT.

H.T. VOLTAGE RANGE WILL BE ABOVE 15000VOLT.
