Job Trends for Fun Engineers

04/03/2009 10:33 PM

I was looking for engineering job postings with "fun" in the description and came across this graph:

What does this graph represent?

a) the current demand for "fun engineers" in the world

b) the current amount of fun in engineering

c) the production level of engineers

d) the percentage of engineering jobs that are fun

And why does the percentage spike between July and September '08? What's your take on fun engineers and engineering.

The percentage of fun engineering jobs peaked in September and has gone down ever since.. Pretty well matches my experience... As a manager my job has not been nearly as fun over the last few months as it was last fall....

What is a fun engineer?

An engineer who is fun?

An engineer who works on fun stuff, such as roller coasters, amusement park rides, or video games?

If you're not a fun engineer or an engineer having fun, maybe you are in the wrong jobs.
Or the job has changed beneath your feet/paws

Summertime in the Northern Hemisphere.

Waterparks, amusement parks, boating, keeping vacationers happy, all the "fungineering" it takes to keep all of these vacationers happy and afloat.

You never fungineered a roller coaster or other park ride to deem it safe or designed a new ride, at least in you mind, whilst visiting a park.

If it was vacation time for N. H. Engineers, I suspect the peaks would be from Nov to Jan, visiting the Southern Hemisphere or at lest warmer latitude's for the warmth.

Or the search is flawed and it is hitting terms like "fundamental"
