The name implies the answer. And this thread was redundant even if you don't know what is OLTC, had you checked previous CR4 Threads on the subject.

dear,

it seems you are being just entering into the field if engineering. With the function of OLTC, you can understand what the device is. What do you mean by bidirection device ? It is being used for transformers ... to control the voltage by tap changing of transformer. So, it can change the tapping of primary winding of transformer ... either in forward direction or reverse.

OLTC- On load tap changer(On load Transformer control) - It will works for control of transformer secondary voltage by changing of taps HT side automatically in onload(If it is auto mode) .it will go in both directions for controlling of Taps.
