Good evening Guys & Gals.
I think my pea brain has finally figured out "hitch" rating's as generally published.
Vehicle hitches go from cat 0 to 5, with 0 being the smallest capacity (usually a 1" receiver or bumper mounted hitch) with cat 1--5 usually 2" receicers all with different mounting configurations, hardware design with the larger (cat 4 or 5) usually providing "load distribution" hardware.
However, when it comes to tractors with "3 point" hitches it seems to me that the vehicle standards do not apply.
1st--hardware (plows, mowers, etc.) for a small tractor (kabota 6000 20HP deisel)
and the like should take " cat 0" equipment--Don't think they exist.
So I've purchased "cat 1" hardware and in most cases I have to modify the mounting, counter weight the front end, or both, to keep the wheels on the ground.
2nd--I'm assuming that "cat 2" and up will just be bigger and heavier.
Are my assumptions correct and does "cat 0" or small tractor hardware exist.???
I've asked these questions to a dozen or more "seasoned" drivers and even equipment operators and always got a "don't know" reply when it comes to hardware rating for "3 point" hitches.
What do you think??
Thanks--Jim
