AutoCAD Scale Factor

04/10/2009 10:17 AM

Can you wblock or some other block a component and reinsert it in a different scale factor but yet keep the component at a 1:1 factor?

Don't understand - please re-phrase the question. An example would help.

You could cut and paste the block onto a new drawing page. rescale it, then cut and paste it back to the original drawing.

Which release of ACAD are you using? Sounds like you want to use a dynamic block. I believe they can be resized. Autodesk introduced them in ACAD 2005 or 2006.

If you are using an older version of ACAD, or can't get the dynamic block to work, then try this:

Explode the block. Use the Scale command to resize the elements. Then convert the elements into a new block with a different name.

Absolutely.

Option 1, wblock out, then use the "insert" command. See Jim C's post. Notice the "uniform scale" and "specify on screen" checkboxes.

Option 2, use the "block" command, followed by "copy", then "scale" on the new block.

Option 3, use cut/copy followed by "paste as block", then "scale" the new block

If this is not what you are looking for, please give a more specific example or specify what version of acad.

edited: you can also change the scale of a block in the properties dialogue....

I've not used 2D for a while but I think that if you insert a block, before you place it, you can right click & enter a scale factor.
