Coolest 'Eggnology' for blind kids.

Seeing as it is Easter Sunday I thought anybody crazy enough to be at their computer should reflect on this.

In the Golden Gate Park San Francisco they hold an annual an egg hunt for visually impaired and blind children.

This year they went high tech but the resulting excitement from children, seen on their faces and judging from their reactions was the same as for sighted kids.

The organisers had placed large colorful eggs that emit a beep or chirping sound in the 3-4 inch high grass.

Blind kids, baskets in toe scrambled around to locate the sound source, when confident that they were close enough they carefully knelt or hunkered close to the beeping egg and then used their little hands to feel around for the source. The cool thing is that they never let their basket out of their grasp or control while searching for a new egg. Each new egg was important to get much so was holding onto the existing catch. As I have not practice and am frankly clueless as to how to connect the "Delicious" tag here with the ""Delicious" tag from the site I wrote it out long hand.

Cool - bet the kids had a great time!

To link:

  1. With the page you want to link to displayed, highlight the URL in the address bar at the top of your browser.
  2. Use <right-click>Copy or just [Ctrl]C to copy it to the clipboard.
  3. Come back to CR4, and in your editor window (i.e. in the post you're creating), type an appropriate name for the link - e.g. Eggnology, and highlight it.
  4. The Hyperlink tool () in the toolbar at the top of the edit window will now be visible - click on it.
  5. In the resulting box, you should see whatever you've chosen for your link name in the Text field, and the cursor positioned in the URL field.
  6. Use <right-click>Paste or just [Ctrl]V to paste the previously-copied address - the box should now look like, e.g., this:
  8. Click Submit. Your previously-selected text will now be highlighted as a hyperlink, as above. When you preview it, you can test it.

I see your from England. I have been in the States since 81 but I miss 'home' in Ireland as much now as ever. We never had Easter egg hunts when we were kids and when I saw in in our French text books, thought it was funky.

Having kids here changed my mind on that.

I certainly miss the Irish 'sweets'. We cared more about the number of eggs you got than the religious aspect being drummed in at school. One of my neighbours had many older siblings and got a large amount of big eggs 'Smarties, Dairymilk' etc.

We got a Yellow Cardboard Box Clock with a small egg at each hour and one of those solid Chocolate Nests with 4 tiny eggs and a scrawny yellow chicken on top.

We always managed to piss him off with our egg count, giving no credit for the size of eggs he got.

I just opened a "Smarties Egg" ($18)and my fav bar of Bournville ($8). My self and my wife eat the Eggs that we get the Kids when they leave them for more than a month. They are sooo! not like we were, as kids, we literally stuffed as much chocolate as we could eat, until we felt ill, year after year.
