So are you looking for replacement parts or all-new equipment?

actually we are looking for a new equipment in order to capitalize.

the seriar number of our current Tapping Machine is: s/n 1012-69 and was build by Globe Tapping Machine company back in 1969, but probably designed by U.S. BAIRD Company as we can see on the original drawings.
I know there are several companies who can build a custom version of this Globe Tapping Machine (UNIVERSAL AUTOMATIC, DIXON, KAUFMAN....) But we prefer similar such like quality as this old Globe Tapping Machine.

regards

hi MOOSE,

The reason why I was trying to find some body from U.S. BAIRD company or GLOBE TAPPING MACHINE is because the mechanical technology used in our old tapping equipment is very though (heavy duty type), and the new technology used at drill & tapping equipment may be full or include new technology like PLC or automatized components.
and our machine is fully relay technology electrical control, movement is by gears or mechanical movement which make very flexible for maintenance and you do not need personal expert of PLC programming.

sound crazy but if we do not have an PLC expertice on our staff we can not considere feasible buy or update our equipment with the new technology.

kind regards

Mauricio B.

I am the son of the President of The Globe Tapping Machine Company. My grandfather started the company. My father sold it in 1970 to U.S. Baird. You are probably out of luck trying to find any former employees. Most of them were fairly old at the time of the sale, probably in their 50's. U.S. Baird didn't know how to market the company's products; firing the reps who were familiar with the machines and replacing them with Baird reps, who didn't know the product.

I believe a couple of the employees stayed on with Baird but they would be quite old even if they are alive today.

You might want to check out a few competitors' products - Universal-Automatic and Kaufman Manufacturing appear to make similar products. Here are the links:

http://www.universalautomatic.com/

http://www.kaufmanmfg.com/machinery/drill-tapping.htm

You can reach me at cnl@cox.net but my father died in 2002 and I am in a totally different business.
