"Ethel" Gasoline

11/17/2006 6:49 PM

How do I turn unleaded gasoline into ethel gasoline for my 1980 50cc moped? Is there an additive i can buy?

Or is all unleaded gasoline the same as 1980 ethel gasoline?

My owner's manual says to mix 1 gallon of ethel gas with 4 oz. Of 20w oil in a clean container before pouring into the gas tank. Is this really necessary? Why can't I just put unleaded gas into the tank, then add the oil?

Old 2 strokes always used to have the oil mixed in with the petrol... That's how the engine is kept lubricated...

It was usual practice before turning the petrol on to start the engine, to stand and shake the bike between your legs to stir up the tank contents!!

You can add the oil to the tank then the petrol but always remember to shake the bike to stir it up

Unleaded petrol will almost certainly, on a high revving small engine, need you to adjust the timing to compensate for the different burn rate (octane rating) of the fuel...

Its easily done if you know what you're doing...

Your moped wont need the added lead for lubrication, as most 4 stokes do so it should be fine...
