intrinsically safedetector

04/19/2009 7:12 AM

hi guys, i am looking for a smoke detector, that is to be installed in a hopper.

The hopper has hot air blowing through it from axial fan through an electric heater, Now my intention is to put a sensor beyond this point, so if any smoke arises in this hopper, it has to be detected and supply heater has to be cut. The smokedetector will be subjected to a temperature of about 170 to 200deg C.

Is it possible to get a Intrinsically safe smokedetector to work at these temperature, it has to drive a relay output so that we can shut the heater.

Tried to google, but not luck

thanks and regards

70 deg C does seem to be a magic number with these. What about adding a small vent at the top of your oven to direct smoke to a cooler location then installing the detector there?

Hmmmmmmnnn? It does makes sense to me, not bad Buddy, you have the technology I don't going to argue with ya' in this one. No Sir!

Hey nice idea I guess that will take care of it definetly.... Lock and Tag that Puppy for Safety and bring some orange juice with a all bunch of rags and a good 'tapping' (Cone Shape) Drill Bit just in case we never know. And nice safety Glass to Comply as well. And will be nice also to addapt couples of 'ThermoDisk' one for 'Operation' and another for 'Cut-Off' Max. allowable Temp. just in case as an Extra 'SafeGuard' feature there, OK you got it now! Tackle it Down and Succeess always...
