I have a customer that wants me to put down some floor finish in an MRI area in a hospital. Can I run my floor equipment in the roomwithout demagnatizing the MRI equipment?
Hello skarr,
there is no way you can 'demagnetize' a MRI magnate!
The magnet has an induced magnetic power. Even if it was a 'normal' ferrite magnet, the power is enormously strong, and you would be in danger as anything like steel etc which was able to accept a charge, would be sucked straight toward the MRI magnet.
If you had any steel in your shoes you would be pulled towards the MRI machine.
Good luck.....

Never had any problems around MRI equipment as long as it was NOT TURNED ON & OPERATING. There is very little magnetic draw when its OFF but when its turned ON there had better not be anything in the room that can be drawn to a magnet. It will turn that object into a missile.
But just to be on the safe side. I would check with the head of the dept. to see if they have any special precautions that you would need to take.
Hello scotchdrnkr,
How are you?
Could not agree more on your remarks on the MRI !!!
I have one regularly and it is not exactly a 'pleasant' experience !
it is rather like being strapped to a trolley behind a '747' at take-off!
Take care............
