Difference between ASME materials and ASTM

is there any difference between ASME materials i.e "SA" and ASTM material i.e "A" ?

is SA 578 and A 578 is same?

In this particular case (S/A 578) they are identical specifications.

In general, some correlated specs have slight differences, sometimes only editorially - but you must ensure you use the SA material when dealing with the ASME codes.

ASME SA & ASTM A are same. SA should be followed by vessels manufeaturer...A is commonly used petrochemials
