Is there a manufacturer of a spring balance type device to measure "snap" loading on slings up to 50 tons?

Is this for proof-testing the slings?

I think what you're looking for is "bellville" washers. Look in McMaster-Carr for them. They are designed to "collapse" or "snap" at a design threshold. I've used them to make a load limit switch for overhead cranes. Lets say if the bellville washer collapses at 5,000 lb, x 20 = 100,000 lb. GLuck!
