What kind of loud sound? If it was a bang, your UPS is probably dead and needs to be taken out for servicing or replacement.

If it's a loud buzzing or humming noise, it could be a transformer that's going bad. You still need to have it taken out for servicing or replacement.

Whatever it is, I suggest you contact the supplier or Gamatronics directly and have them take a look.

regards,

Vulcan

The output side of a UPS consists of an inverter feeding a transformer. If the inverter bridge is triggering improperly, it will create a noise in the output transformer and require servicing.

The input side of a UPS consists of a rectifier bridge. A defective bridge will creaie a noise and would require servicing. In any case, if the UPS is generating noises, it will require servicing.

Some UPS's use switching power supplies to rectify in incoming AC power whereby introducing switching harmonics to the incoming power connection. If the town's power source has a relatively small capacity (say 100 kW feeding your 100kva UPS), it is possible that your large UPS is back feeding noise (harmonics) to this source. The source may have an intolerance to these harmonics.
